🟨 Where Community Thrives and Kids Grow
Last week, we welcomed Cany Ash (Ash Sakula, London) to TU-BA – Tu sa tvorí Bratislava, who shared her perspective on designing neighbourhoods for community, play, and everyday life. 🏘️
The workshop and evening talk showed that good housing is not just about buildings, but about what happens between them – in streets, courtyards, and shared spaces.
💡 Participants also took away key principles:
➡️ new projects should build on the context and story of a place,
➡️ diverse aesthetics help preserve identity (and don’t have to be more expensive),
➡️ space for community needs to be planned from the start,
➡️ density directly influences mobility and quality of life.
The evening discussion expanded on these ideas through real-life examples – from award-winning projects to housing models that support neighbourhood connections, children’s independence, and vibrant local life.
👉 How we want to live in the future is not just a question of architecture – but of how we want to live together.
Many thanks to Cany Ash for the inspirational day and to the partner of Start with Children 2026, Nadácia Allianz.
